WHAT IS MY ART ABOUT

My main aim is to convey images of around Wellington. These paintings are mostly watercolours and acrylics. Sometimes though I enjoy using lots of acrylic paint and moving it about on a canvas making loose work and seeing what happens. Overseas paintings have evolved from a lot of travel and these are memories to hold on to.

My art journey started in primary school in Dunedin and has developed over the years. Tutors, teachers, workshop inspiration, trips to London and Paris have influenced.

With the abundance of wonderful coloured materials it becomes a joy. I love acrylics with their pure colours but watercolours are a challenge and invariably water vs pigment on thick paper becomes interesting to my mind.

I have been involved with Watercolour New Zealand, NZ Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington Art Club and a small group of painters in the Khandallah Art Group. But it is the constant vision to look to the future and see what can be achieved, grabs me.
